Recently, the EPC turnkey project of a new airport in Algiers Undertaken by China State Construction officially began operations.
The project covers a floor area of 650,000 m2 and a gross floor area of 200,000m2, consisting of a new terminal, overpass, parking lots, parking aprons and a new energy center. It is a 4F airport with an annual passenger flow volume of up to 10 million passengers. As an aviation hub in North Africa, it will significantly promote the development of the local economy, culture and tourism.
The airport is the second international airport constructed by China State Construction in Algiers, the first being Algiers Houari Boumediene Airport in 2006. In June, 2014, China State Construction won the bid for the Algiers New Airport Project and in October of the same year, Abdelmalek Sellal, Prime Minister at the time, attended the commencement ceremony and unveiled a foundation stone tablet, saying that “the airport is a great project that represents the future of Algiers”.
