On July 5, the official website of the APEC-ESCI Management Committee formally revealed the 4th APEC ESCI Best Practices Award. After months of review and fierce competition among 61 projects and 17 economies, two projects of China State Construction stood out and were selected and declared by the APEC Sustainable Cities Program Joint Operation Center, successfully winning all the gold and silver prize in the smart building category.
Among them, the “Energy-efficient Building and Infrastructure Improvement Program – Papua New Guinea School Design and Construction Integration (EPC) Project” of China Construction Steel Structure Corp. Ltd. won the smart building gold prize, and the “Green Building Energy Saving Program – China State Construction Xintang South New City Community Cultural Center Project” of China Construction Fangcheng Investment & Development Ltd. won the smart building silver prize. The award ceremony will be held at the 58th meeting of the APEC Energy Working Group during the second half of the year. The Best Practices Award of APEC ESCI is the only project award regarding five categories of projects within APEC, including excellent smart traffic, smart building, smart grid, smart work, and low carbon demonstration city and town. Since 2013, projects have been collected, reviewed, and awarded once every two years, awarding one gold prize and one silver prize for the above five categories respectively. Previously, no cases from China had won the award.

The winning of the APEC-ESCI Best Practices Award for the very first time by China State Construction on behalf of China embodies the gradually increasing influence of the brand of China State Construction on the APEC international stage, further increasing its international influence in the field of green building and construction. It provides a successful thought and project experience for export, and the transfer of the excellent practices of China State Construction and Chinese technical standards to other economies in the future.
